SMU senior swimmer Denisa Smolenova posted two of the nation's best times in the 100- and 200-meter butterfly events at the Austin Grand Prix. She clocked a 2:11.68 (1:56.01, converted) in the 200 fly and a 1:00.43 (53.00, converted) in the 100 fly, and has been named Conference USA Swimmer of the Week. East Carolina senior diver Katie Yamamoto has been named Diver of the Week after a pair of first-place showings during the Pirates' dual meet with Old Dominion.
C-USA Swimmer of the Week - Denisa Smolenova, SMU, Sr., Bratislava, Slovakia
Smolenova had one of her strongest performances of the season as she earned two top-eight finishes on the long course at the Austin Grand Prix over the weekend. Smolenova came in fifth in the 200-meter butterfly, clocking in at 2:11.68 (1:56.01, converted). The butterfly specialist placed seventh in the 100-meter event, touching the wall with a time of 1:00.43 (53.00, converted). The converted time are both in the top 15 on the national list. This is Smolenova's first Swimmer of the Week honor in her career.
C-USA Diver of the Week - Katie Yamamoto, East Carolina, Sr., Paris, Ontario
Yamamoto earned a first-place finish on the one (267.37) and three-meter board (271.43) in the dual meet victory over Old Dominion. The award is Yamamoto's second C-USA Diver of the Week honor in her career and first of the season.
