Conference USA Earns Two All-America Honors

IRVING, Texas - Tulsa's Tyler Henderson and Lucy Charuk of Houston were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America second and third teams, respectively. Henderson repeats her honor from a year ago while Charuk becomes the fourth player in league history to earned third team laurels. The league also had nine student-athletes to earn AVCA All-America honorable mention honors.

Henderson, a junior outside hitter from Oklahoma City, became Tulsa's first volleyball student-athlete selected to the top-three All-America teams by the AVCA. The 2011 Conference USA Player of the Year ranks fifth in the NCAA and led the league in kills per set with an average of 4.86. She also appears 13th in the nation in points per set, averaged 5.11, and 38th in hitting efficiency, .353. She tallied double-digit kills in 30 matches and 20-or-more kills eight times. She averaged at least 4.00 kills per set in 26 matches, and 5.00 kills per set in 16 matches. This is Henderson's third All-America honor, as she was also an honorable mention selection in 2009.

Charuk, a senior middle blocker from Tswwassen, British Columbia, is a three-time first team All-Conference USA selection. She led the Cougars with 365 kills and a .390 hitting percentage. She also has a team-high 159 blocks, averaging 1.38 per set. Charuk leaves Houston as the school career leader in hitting percentage, second in blocks and block assists, fifth in solo blocks and eighth in blocks per set. She also found herself ranked among the conference leaders in multiple categories as she topped the league in hitting percentage, ranked second in blocks and fifth in points. She was 14th in the NCAA in blocks per set and 16th in hitting percentage. Charuk garnished three AVCA All-Region team selections. Following both All-Region selections, she went on to be named an AVCA All-American Honorable Mention.
