LEXINGTON, Ky. (SMU) - Caroline Young earned American Volleyball Coaches' Association All-America honorable mention, association officials announced. The sophomore is one of eight players from five teams in Conference USA, and one of two sophomores in the league, to earn All-America accolades.

The Brenham, Texas native finished the season tied for 12th in the NCAA with 51 aces, and was just outside the top 100 in the country in points per set, averaging 4.12 points per set. Young led the Mustangs and finished ninth in Conference USA with 3.39 kills per set, scoring 397 kills, which is sixth in the league.

Young had at least 20 kills in seven matches, including a career-high 26 in a 3-1 win at UCF, the first of a four-match win streak for the Mustangs. She also had 23 kills and a career-high 18 digs against Army for her first double-double. She finished the season with 125 digs and 63 blocks as a right side attacker, and was twice named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week.

A first team All-Conference USA and All-Midwest Region selection, Young is the second player in program history to earn All-American status. Dana Powell was a two-time All-America honorable mention in 2009 and 2010.
