Conference USA is at the half-way point in its 2012 volleyball season. With eight matches remaining, two-time defending C-USA champion Tulsa (15-8, 8-1 C-USA) tops the leader board with a slight advantage over Rice (14-9, 7-2 C-USA) and Marshall (16-6, 6-2 C-USA). Currently sitting in third place is UAB (13-11, 5-3 C-USA). The Blazers are the hottest team in the league, winners of six straight. SMU has won four consecutive matches to boost its conference record to 5-4 (8-13 overall) and be in a three-way tie for fifth place with UTEP and Houston. '
This weekend will have three of the top four teams in the league on the road - Tulsa, Rice and UAB. Marshall will host the Blazers while Tulane welcomes Rice to town. The match of the weekend could be SMU hosting the Golden Hurricane. These two teams have battled it out during the last two years with the Mustangs being the only C-USA program to defeat TU.

>>>>> After earning Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week accolades Monday, Tulsa senior OH TYLER HENDERSON was named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. It is the second time that Henderson has won the award, as she took home the honor back in 2010 after she set a NCAA record in the 25-point era with 45 kills in a Tulsa 3-2 victory over SMU on October 6.
It also marks the fourth national honor for Conference USA history. UCF's Rachel Vukson (2011) and
Kelly-Anne Billingy of Marshall (2005) are the other two national honorees.
Henderson, the career points leader in Conference USA history, averaged 6.12 kills, 6.94 points per set, 1.12 digs per set and hit .430 as Tulsa (15-8, 8-1 C-USA) picked up two victories against league foes. A two-time second team AVCA All-American, Henderson ranks second in the nation in kills with 5.31 per set and points with 5.82 per frame this year.

As a team, Tulsa and Rice among the nation's elite in kills, assists and digs per set. The Golden Hurricane are No. 9 in kills (14.63), No. 13 in assists (13.54) and No. 14 in digs (17.76). The Owls rank 27th in kills (14.26), 17th in assists (13.45) and 33rd in digs (17.09).
