IRVING, Texas - Senior Tyler Henderson pounded 31 kills, and senior Jessica Adams had 30 digs as the University of Tulsa volleyball team defeated the UTEP Miners in five sets (25-20, 22-25, 25-18, 22-25, 15-5) Friday evening at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

Henderson hit .434 in the match to lead the Golden Hurricane (14-8, 7-1 C-USA). The Hurricane tallied 77 kills in the match and hit .227 overall, and outhit the Miners, which finished with 47 kills and hit .168 as a team.

Senior Jordan Clampitt recorded a double-double with 41 assists and 12 digs. Senior Diana Silva had 11 kills alongside her 12 digs and sophomore Bailey Clampitt tallied 26 assists and 11 digs, earning them both double-doubles as well.

Freshman Ashley Hooper slammed 13 kills and Junior Kellie Culbertson had 13 digs. Sophomore Carly Boatwright hit 11 kills for .304.

The Hurricane finished the match with 87 digs and 75 assists. Junior Xitlali Herrera led the Miners with 17 kills and hit .364, which totaled 47 kills and .168 overall.

 Friday, Oct. 12  Highlights
 Houston 3, at East Carolina 0 (20-25, 13-25, 26-28)   Houston (5-13, 4-4) was led by senior Katie Norris who registered a match-best 16 kills, while Chandace Tryon added 10 kills and had a .444 clip.
ECU (1-17, 0-7 C-USA) was led by Nicole Willis who tallied 11 kills and 10 digs for her seventh double-double of the season.
 at Marshall 3, Rice 0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-22)   The Herd stays perfect in the Cam Henderson Center at 9-0, a home streak that matches the 2005 run.
Marshall (16-5, 6-1) was able to best the Owls in all categories including kills, assists, aces, digs, and blocks. The Owls (13-9, 6-2 C-USA) are in third place in the C-USA standings after the loss.
 UCF 3, at Memphis 0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-23)   The Knights (7-12, 4-3 C-USA) out-killed the Tigers (6-15, 1-6), 42-38, while out-hitting them, .252-.196. It was a total-team effort for the Black and Gold as they did not have a player record double-digit kills for just the second time this season.
Memphis (6-15, 1-6 C-USA) was led by Marija Jovanovic with 12 kills while Altrese Hawkins had 10.
 at SMU 3, Tulane 2 (18-25, 25-12, 21-25, 25-19, 25-10)   Caroline Young led the Mustangs with 20 kills, hitting .500 for the match, and also had three aces and three blocks. Courtney Manning also had five blocks, pushing her SMU (7-13, 4-4) career total to 540.
Cori Martone tallied a double-double with 11 kills and a match-high 18 digs for Tulane (4-15, 2-6).
 at UAB 3, Southern Miss 0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-19)   Kirsten Gallaher and Sam Skinner led UAB with 13 and 11 kills, respectively, while Rachel Fairbanks collected a match-high 24 digs. Alison Woods added a double-double with 36 assists and 10 digs for the Blazers (11-11, 4-3).
USM (6-13, 2-5) was topped by freshman Quinci Hayward who tallied 12 kills on .407 hitting while sophomore Jasmine Crowell added 10 kills.
 at Tulsa 3, UTEP 2 (25-20, 22-25, 25-18, 22-25, 15-5)   Tyler Henderson came up big as the senior posted a match-best 31 kills and hit .434 (31K-8E-53TA) for the match. Ashley Hooper landed 13, followed by 11 each from Carly Boatwright and Diana Silva. Five Golden Hurricane (14-8, 7-1) players had 10-or-more digs topped by senior Jessica Adams' 30.
C-USA Offensive Player of the Week, Xitlali Herrera led UTEP (11-9, 5-3) with 17 kills, Jeane Horton tallied 11.
