IRVING, Texas - SMU picks up Conference USA Volleyball Offensive Player and Setter of the Week honors as the Mustangs went 2-0 last week with wins at UCF and Southern Miss. Sophomore CAROLINE YOUNG and OLIVIA BAILEY paced the program with a respective 5.43 kills and 12.14 assists per set. Rice's JILLIAN HUMPHREY was dominant at the net, averaging 2.17 blocks per set to earn C-USA Defensive Player of the Week accolade. With a pair of wins, the Owls moved into a tie for first place in the league standings with Tulsa.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CAROLINE YOUNG, SMU / 5-11, SO., OH / BRENHAM, TEXAS
Young averaged a C-USA weekly best 5.43 kills and 6.43 points per set while hitting .372 over seven sets. SMU went 2-0 on the week with road wins at UCF and Southern Miss. Young's 26 kill performance at UCF established a career-high and topped the C-USA chart for the week. She also hit .449 (26K-4E-49TA) and had four blocks against the Knights. The Brenham, Texas, native ended the weekend with 12 kills, three aces and three blocks at Southern Miss. This is Young's second weekly award for the season and career.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JILLIAN HUMPHREY, RICE / 6-2, SO., MB / SHOREACRES, TEXAS
Humphrey led the league with a 2.17 block per set average as Rice went 2-0 with straight-set wins over UTEP and Tulane last week. She also posted 3.17 kills per set, and tallied a total of 13 blocks, helping the Owls reclaim a share of first place in C-USA. Humphrey's week was highlighted by an 11 kill and six block performance October 7, her birthday, as the Owls downed Tulane. This is Humphrey's first career weekly award.

SETTER OF THE WEEK
OLIVIA BAILEY, SMU / 5-11, SR., S / DALLAS, TEXAS
Bailey's 12.14 assists per set topped the league and guided SMU to two C-USA victories. She dished out a season-high 53 assists at UCF, eclipsing 50 for the second time this season. The senior transfer also recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 11 digs against the Knights. Her 53 assists at UCF was best for the week and ranks second for a four-set match by a C-USA player this season. This is Bailey's first career weekly award.
