Conference USA has awarded CAROLINE YOUNG of SMU Offensive Player of the Week honors while Rice's MEGAN MURPHY has been named Setter of the Week. This is the first weekly award for both players. Tulsa's JESSICA ADAMS picks up her 11th career Defensive Player of the Week accolade after averaging 5.54 digs per set and breaking the 20-plus dig mark twice last week.
Young was named to the TCU Nike Invitational All-Tournament Team, averaging 5.30 kills per set and a solid .322 hitting efficiency over 10 sets. She also recorded career-highs with 23 kills and 18 digs against Army for her first double-double. Murphy earned All-Tiger Classic honors as she averaged 10.47 assists per set and added in 18 kills off of a .341 hitting percentage. She also led the Owls to a season-high .358 hitting percentage against No. 12 Washington. Murphy started the week with a double-double of 11 digs and 43 assists at UTSA.

Young was named to the TCU Nike Invitational All-Tournament Team, after averaging 5.30 kills per set and a solid .322 hitting efficiency over 10 sets. She recorded career-highs with 23 kills and 18 digs against Army for her first double-double. Young opened the tournament with 12 kills and a .348 hitting percentage and ended the event with 18 kills and a .350 clip in a 3-0 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. She was also responsible for six blocks and five service aces. This is Young's first career weekly honor.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Adams repeated as Defensive Player of the Week by averaging 5.54 digs per set and breaking the 20-plus dig mark against Nebraska-Omaha (23) and Kansas (22). Her 23 digs against Nebraska-Omaha was the most in the conference for a three-set match for the week. She hustled for 15 digs at Arkansas and had 12 against Arkansas State. Adams led the league for the week with 5.54 DPS and boasted a C-USA-best 5.65 on the year. Her passing has also helped the Hurricane to a second-place ranking in attack percentage with a clip of .225. This is Adams' 11th career Defensive Player of the week honor and second-straight of the 2012 season.
SETTER OF THE WEEK
MEGAN MURPHY, RICE / 5-10, R-JR., S / PLANO, TEXAS
Murphy earned All-Tiger Classic recognition in a tournament that featured two nationally-ranked teams. Murphy posted 40 assists, the second-highest total in a three-set match by a C-USA player this year, and led the Owls to a season-high .358 hitting percentage against No. 12 Washington. She posted 50 assists against No. 7 Purdue, helping the Owls reach five sets with a Top 10 foe. Murphy averaged 10.47 assists per set during the week. She added in 18 kills off of a .341 hitting percentage, including four kills and .444 hitting against No. 12 Washington. Murphy earned a double-double against UTSA with 11 digs to go with 43 assists and dug 33 attacks over four matches this week. This is her first career Setter of the Week honor.
