Conference USA has awarded its first set of volleyball Players of the Week for the 2012 campaign. Tulsa's senior dominant duo of TYLER HENDERSON and JESSICA ADAMS earned Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week accolades, respectively. Marshall sophomore setter SAMMIE BANE picks up where she left off a year ago earning Setter of the Week merits.
Henderson and Adams, the respective 2011 C-USA Player and Libero of the Year, earned All-Tournament honors at the Nike Invitational. Henderson averaged a C-USA best in kills (6.73) and points (7.09) per set for the week, while Adams accounted for 5.27 digs per set. Marshall captured the Thunder Invitational title behind the effort of Bane's 10.46 assists per set and team hitting percentage of .225 in the opening weekend play.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
TYLER HENDERSON, TULSA / 5-10, SR., OH / OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA.
Henderson was named to the Nike Invitational All-Tournament team after averaging a C-USA best in kills (6.73) and points (7.09) per set. She tallied 28 kills in 43 attempts to attain an attack percentage of .558 against Western Michigan, then collected 17 kills versus Missouri State to propel TU to straight-set victories. Henderson ended the event with 29 kills against host Oklahoma, while adding eight digs and two service aces in the five-set loss. Tulsa went 2-1 on the weekend. This is Henderson's 15th career Offensive Player of the Week honor.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JESSICA ADAMS, TULSA / 5-7, SR., L / OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA.
Adams joined teammate Tyler Henderson on the Nike Invitational All-Tournament squad as she averaged 5.27 digs per set and helped hold opponents to just a .171 hitting percentage. She opened the 2012 season with 17 digs against Western Michigan, followed by 16 versus Missouri State and 25 at Oklahoma. This is Adams' 10th career Defensive Player of the week honor.
SETTER OF THE WEEK
SAMMIE BANE, MARSHALL / 5-4, SO., S / BROWNSTOWN, IND.
Bane guided Marshall to the Thunder Invitational title as she accounted for 10.46 assists per set and a team hitting percentage of .225. She also produced a pair of double-doubles on the weekend as she recorded 46 assists and 17 digs against IUPUI followed by 53 assists and 10 digs in the championship match against Miami (Ohio). Marshall won both matches, 3-2, and opened the invitational with a straight-set victory over Wright State. This is Bane's second consecutive and career Setter of the Week honor as she captured the final award of the 2011 season.
