HOUSTON -- The University of Houston volleyball team was recognized among the nation's elite in academics, earning its second-straight American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award following an impressive 2011-12 academic year in the classroom.
The award, which was initiated during the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Houston Volleyball posted greater than a 3.20 team GPA over the last academic year with more than half of the team earning a spot on the University's Dean's List.
