Seniors Kellie Culbertson and Miriele Gobbo recorded 18 combined kills in the Tulsa win (22-5, 11-1). Culbertson recorded her 21st double-double of the season with 11 kills and 13 digs. The Long Beach, Calif., native has recorded 1,612 career digs, which ranks her second in school history. Her 1,090 career kills moves her up to fourth place in school history. Gobbo had seven kills and a .583 (7-0-12) hitting percentage.
Marshall (14-15, 7-6) was led by Cassie Weaver with 16 kills, Sammie Bane with 52 assists and Dorothy Rahal with 24 digs. Weaver added 10 digs and Bane added 20 digs for a double-double. Laura Der also recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 22 digs.
Tulane 3, at Rice 1 [23-25,25-22,25-19,27-25]
Tulane (24-3, 10-2) picked up its first win over Rice (9-18, 5-7) since 2009, giving the Green Wave their first double-digit league win total since going 10-10 during the 2010 campaign. The 24 overall wins are the most since Tulane went 28-6 during its 2008 C-USA Championship season. Senior Cori Martone (25 kills) and freshman Tea Juric (24 kills) led the Green Wave, combining for 49 of the team's 68 kills.
Junior Jillian Humphrey led the Owls (9-18, 5-7) with 14 kills, followed by 11 from senior Mariah Riddlesprigger. Sara Blasier returned to the starting lineup and recorded 47 assists and a match-high tying 16 digs for her sixth double-double of the year. Daniela Arenas also finished with 16 digs.
Charlotte 3, at East Carolina 2 [25-22,22-25,18-25,25-22,15-13]
Senior Amanda Videmsek had a career-high 26 kills to get over 1,000 for her career and sophomore Michelle Hovey tallied a match-best 36 digs for Charlotte (12-15, 2-10). Videmsek became the 18th player in school history to break 1,000 kills (now at 1,001). Sophomore Britney Leigh Held had 58 assists to eclipse the 1,000-assist mark for the season. She moved up to 21st on the single season list and now has 1,040 for 2013.
Senior Whitney Campbell recorded a double-double (12K/16D) and senior Shelby Beasley collected 29 digs to tie for third in the ECU single-game record book. Senior Nicole Willis led the ECU (13-17, 3-9) offense with 15 kills and tied her career-high with six total blocks. Beasley currently owns 1,384 and sits in second on East Carolina's all-time list.
at Middle Tennessee 3, Florida Atlantic 1 [22-25,25-19,25-22,26-24]
Sophomore Chelsea Ross led MT (17-10, 8-4) with 19 kills, while freshman Jale Hervey added 18 and redshirt-junior Monet Marshall recorded 10 and a .692 (10k-1e-13ta) hitting percentage.
FAU (11-15, 3-9) had three players with more than 10 kills. Freshman Kristi Tekavec led the trio with 14, followed by 12 from freshman Briann Wojciakowski and 11 by junior Liene Mellupe.
at North Texas 3, UTEP 0 [25-16,25-21,25-21]
North Texas (16-12, 8-4) got 12 kills out of senior Courtney Windham on a .688 attack percentage, while freshman Amy Henard dished out 38 assists.
UTEP (13-11, 6-6) was led by senior Xitlali Herrera's 13 kills and 10 digs, while sophomore Talia Jones added 10 kills and hit .471.
UAB 3, at Louisiana Tech 0 [25-18,25-20,25-19]
UAB (19-12, 6-6) was led by junior Sara Rishell who had 10 kills and seven blocks while hitting a career-best .529. Junior Rebecca Redgen and sophomore Fenix Calderon each had five total kills to lead Louisiana Tech (7-20, 1-11) offensively, while Calderon also recorded 12 digs on the day.
FIU 3, at Southern Miss 1 [25-26,25-22,25-22,25-22]
Lucia Castro led FIU (11-15, 5-8) with a match-high 20 kills to go with 15 digs while Gloria Levorin had 13 and Kimberly Smith added 10. Adriana McLamb finished with 24 digs. Jessica Egan recorded a double-double with 52 assists and 11 digs. Quinci Hayward paced Southern Miss (14-13, 5-7) with 19 kills while Jasmine Crowell and Elise Ames recorded 17 kills apiece and Stephany Purdue added 10 kills. Mary Pursell picked up 27 digs while Purdue added 11 digs. Kristen Fleming had 61 assists.
