IRVING, Texas - Conference USA has named Tulsa's Ashley Watling and Memphis' Tiffany Welcher Tennis Athletes of the Week. Watling won all four matches to lead Tulsa to victories over No. 74 Oklahoma State (6-1) and UCF (7-0) last week. He has won eight of his last nine singles matches and his 82 career singles triumphs are eighth in school history. This is his third C-USA Tennis Athlete of the Week honor this season and sixth for his career. Welcher went 4-0 against Conference USA foes at the Southern Miss Invitational last weekend. This is her first career C-USA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week honor.

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
ASHLEY WATLING, TULSA
Senior, Ipswich, England
Watling won all four matches to lead Tulsa to victories over No. 74 Oklahoma State (6-1) and UCF (7-0) last week. Watling topped Chris Haworth of OSU and Mitch Thams of UCF by identical 6-1, 6-2, scores from the third position. He also teamed with junior Clifford Marsland to win both doubles matches by a combined score of 16-6. Watling and Marsland comprise the fourth-ranked doubles team in the nation, while Watling is ranked No. 89 in singles. Watling has won eight of his last nine singles matches and his 82 career singles triumphs are eighth in school history. This is his third C-USA Tennis Athlete of the Week honor this season and sixth for his career.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
TIFFANY WELCHER, MEMPHIS
RS-Senior, Clarksville, Ind.
Welcher went 4-0 against Conference USA foes at the Southern Miss Invitational last weekend. Playing No. 1 singles for the fourth time this season, she defeated UAB's Paula Alvarez in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. The redshirt senior teamed with Courtney Collins at No. 1 doubles to defeat Alvarez and Isabel Fernandez, 8-3. Saturday, Welcher claimed another straight-set victory, 6-3, 6-4, against Elja van Berlo of Southern Miss. Teaming with Mariya Slupska, Welcher won at No. 2 doubles, 8-5, against van Berlo and Alex Bradley. Welcher, ranked 119th in singles, has amassed a 12-4 record in singles play and 14-3 in doubles for the No. 57 Tigers. This is her first career C-USA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week honor.
