IRVING, Texas - Memphis' Ashley Murdock is the Women's Tennis Player of the Week after stretching her winning streak to five straight matches with a pair of C-USA victories at No. 1. Murdock is now 14-4 overall on the season and 3-0 against league competition.

WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK (4/8)
ASHLEY MURDOCK - Memphis
So., Memphis, Tenn. (St. Agnes)

Murdock stretched her winning streak to five straight matches with a pair of C-USA victories at No. 1 last weekend She improved to 14-4 on the season and 8-4 at No. 1 singles with the two wins agasint UTEP and UAB. Murdock is now 3-0 against C-USA competition after joining Memphis in January from LSU. Murdock also went 2-1 at No. 1 doubles with partner Majorie Ondeck, defeating Weronika Blocynska and Marmonie Chatagner from UTEP and Evelien Stiyker and Antonio Nugent of UAB. The duo is now 8-7 in doubles play this season, including a 5-6 mark at No. 1 doubles and a 3-1 mark at No. 2. The 4-0 team win over UTEP was Memphis' first C-USA regular season victory since Feb. 25, 2005.

Conference USA will name a male and female tennis Athlete of the Week throughout the regular season. The weekly accolades are selected by the media relations department and announced every Tuesday throughout the season.

KAROLINA SOOR - Marshall

Soor won with partner Kellie Schmitt at No. 1 doubles against the No. 1 East Region doubles team from Middle Tennessee State. The duo is now 15-3 at the top doubles spot. Soor also won in singles to improve to 5-1 at the No. 3 position.

JULIE CHAO - Rice
So., San Diego, Calif.

Chao helped Rice extend its winning streak with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1 against SMU. The reigning C-USA Freshman of the Year has won seven of her last eight matches as the Owls head into the C-USA Championship.

NATALIA BUBIEN - SMU
Jr., Warsaw, Poland

Bubien and her partner Pavi Francis (currently ranked No. 41) defeated the Rice pair of Chao/Karas at No. 1, 8-2. The duo's record this season now stands at 14-4 and was the pair's fifth-straight.

AGOSTINA SANTORO - Tulsa
Sr., Buenos Aires, Argentina

Tulsa's lone senior Agostina Santoro went 2-0 this past weekend. Against C-USA rival Houston, Santoro beat Joanna Kacprzyk, 6-1, 6-3, at the No. 6 position in TU's 7-0 victory. In the Golden Hurricane's 6-1 win over North Texas, Santoro dispatched Richel Wilhelm, 6-0, 6-2, also at the No. 6 position.
