BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -----  The UAB women’s tennis team returns to George Ward Park on Thursday as head coach Lisa Jackson’s squad takes on No. 19 Notre Dame at 1 p.m. CT.

Thursday’s contest represents the second time in the last three matches that the Blazers face a team ranked in the ITA Rankings. UAB, which is 8-5 overall, fell to No. 48 Tulane this past Sunday, and is looking to snap a two- match losing skid.

Notre Dame, which is 9-5 overall on the season, comes into Thursday after falling to No. 12 Georgia, 6-1, on Tuesday. The match against the Blazers represents the third-straight on the road for the Irish.

UAB is 7-1 overall at home this season and will play at George Ward Park for the next five contests.

The Blazers have been tough at the top singles position this season, boasting a 10-3 record at the No. 1 court. In doubles, UAB is led by the tandem of Isabel Fernandez and Elaine Simon, which holds and 8-3 overall record.

Following play against the Irish, the Blazers host Southern on March 22 at 2 p.m. CT.
