IRVING, Texas - Tulsa sweeps this week's Conference USA Women's and Men's Tennis Athletes of the Week awards. Unranked junior Clifford Marsland takes the men's honor as he upset No. 49 Rok Bonin of No. 37 Minnesota in a three set thriller, 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1 singles. He ended the week with a 6-4, 6-3 victory of No. 60 Mate Zsiga as the team shocked 14th-ranked Baylor, 5-2.

Junior Samantha Vickers completed the week with a flawless 4-0 singles and doubles record that included a 6-2, 6-0 win over the reigning C-USA Player of the Year and 50th-ranked Natalie Beazant of Rice. Vickers, who's ranked 124th, also defeated Wichita State's No. 1 singles player, Lucia Kovalova, 6-2, 6-1.

Both of Tulsa's men's and women's programs went undefeated last week.

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
CLIFFORD MARSLAND, TULSA
Redshirt Junior / Perth, Australia
Marsland played the No. 1 singles position and picked up two crucial victories for the Golden Hurricane last weekend. The redshirt junior defeated No. 49 Rok Bonin of Minnesota in a three set thriller, 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-2. He also upset No. 60 Mate Zsiga of Baylor in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Marsland aided the Hurricane to grab the doubles point against the Golden Gophers with an 8-5 win over the 24th-ranked duo of Mathieu Froment and Rok Bonin. As a team, Tulsa upset of No. 14 Baylor, 5-2, on Sunday, after defeating No. 37 Minnesota. This is Marsland's first Tennis Athlete of the Week honor for the spring and fourth for his career.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
SAMANTHA VICKERS, TULSA
Junior / Lincolnshire, England
Vickers propelled the Golden Hurricane to a pair of victories against No. 62 Wichita State, 6-1, and No. 32 Rice, 5-2, last weekend. She completed the weekend with a flawless 4-0 singles and doubles record, including a 6-2, 6-0 win over the reigning C-USA Player of the Year and 50th-ranked Natalie Beazant of Rice. In doubles action, Vickers and Isaura Enrique, ranked No. 9 in the nation, defeated their second ranked doubles team of the spring season as they handed Beazant/Dominque Harmath an 8-3 loss. They also won 8-2 over WSU's Lucia Kovalova/Veronika Blaskova. Vickers is now 4-0 in singles and 4-0 in doubles. This marks the first Tennis Athlete of the Week honor for Vickers this spring and fourth for her career.
