IRVING, Texas – Tulsa’s Alejandro Espejo was named the Men's Athlete of the Week with three singles wins and a pair of doubles victories. UTSA’s Isabelle Jonsson was named the Female Athlete of the Week after posting a 4-0 weekend for the Roadrunners.

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEKALEJANDRO ESPEJO, TULSA
Epsejo won all of his three singles matches at the No. 4 singles position and two doubles matches at the No. 2 doubles position in three matches last week. Espejo cut No. 16 Pepperdine’s lead to 2-1 after defeating Stefan Menichella and recorded the third point against No. 42 Washington by defeating Viktor Farkas. Espejo cut No. 6 Tennessee’s lead to 3-2 after defeating Jarryd Chaplin and paried up with Japie De Klerk to defeat No. 28 doubles team of Jarryd Chaplin and Brandon Fickey of Tennessee 6-1. The duo won the first doubles match against David Sofaer and Stefan Menchella of Pepperdine 6-2. Espejo is now 6-2 in singles and has won three straight matches. Also 6-2 in doubles when paired with De Klerk.
FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
ISABELLE JONSSON, UTSA
Senior/ Eskilstuna, Sweden
Jonsson was a perfect 4-0 last weekend (two singles/two doubles), as UTSA split its two home matches against McNeese State (W, 5-2/Saturday) and UTEP (L, 3-4/Sunday). The four wins were her first of the 2014 spring season.
