SMU sophomore Isabella Arcila has been named the Conference USA Swimmer of the Week, while Marshall's Lauren Rone was tabbed the C-USA Diver of the Week.
C-USA SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
ISABELLA ARCILA, SMU
Sophomore, Cali, Colombia
Arcila led the Mustangs with two individual golds and two relay wins as the SMU defeated Conference USA rival Rice, 156-106, in a dual meet Saturday at Perkins Natatorium. The sprint free-specialist won the 50- and 100-yard freestyles with times of 23.24 and 51.12, respectively. The sophomore All-America was also a part of both relay wins on the afternoon, leading the Mustangs in the 400-yard medley relay (3:46.50) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:33.64). Arcila's 50 free mark is the fastest time by a C-USA swimmer this season. The 200 freestyle relay is also a season-best by a C-USA squad. This is her first weekly honor of the season and second of her career (Jan. 31, 2012).
C-USA DIVER OF THE WEEK
LAUREN RONE, SMU
Senior, Aurora, Colo.
Rone swept the diving events in Saturday's dual meet win against Radford, taking first place in the one-meter and three-meter springboard. Rone collected season highs in each event while breaking the school record with a score of 283.87 in the one-meter. She has already qualified for the Zone Diving Championships. The senior now holds the top two scores, and seven of the Top 20, all-time in the one-meter for a Herd diver. In the three-meter, her win was her first in the event this season and the 16th best score all-time at Marshall. Both of her scores land her in the top five in Conference USA. Her one-meter score is third best while she ranks fifth in the three-meter. This is Rone's first honor of the season and second of her career (Nov. 1, 2011).
