IRVING, Texas – Houston junior diver Julia Lonnegren continued her outstanding season, topping the NCAA Zone Diving standard in each of the three events she competed in during the UH Quad to earn Conference USA Diver of the Week honors. SMU freshman swimmer Isabella Arcila was named C-USA Swimmer of the Week for the first time as she won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events during the cross-town dual against TCU.
C-USA Swimmer of the Week - Isabella Arcila, SMU, Fr., Cali, Colombia
Arcila continued her strong freshman season, winning two individual events as the Mustangs downed cross-town rival TCU, 135-105, Jan. 25. The freestyle specialist won the 50- and 100-yard freestyles, touching the wall in 23.47 and 51.11, respectively. Arcila also swam the lead-off leg of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay as the Mustangs won the event in 1:34.08. This is Arcila’s first Swimmer of the Week honor for her career.
C-USA Diver of the Week - Julia Lonnegren, Houston, Jr., Forolund, Sweden
Lonnegren won the one-meter (299.8) and platform dives (252.15), while taking second in the three-meter (312.6) and topping the NCAA standard in all three events at the UH Quad Meet against LSU, Rice and Tulane. The win was her seventh one-meter title of the season. The award is Lonnegren’s second straight, fifth of the season and seventh of her career.
