IRVING, Texas – Rice sophomore Erin Flanigan has been named Conference USA Swimmer of the Week after posting the league’s top time in the 1,000-yard freestyle at the LSU Quad Meet. Houston senior Julia Lonnegren was named Diver of the Week after meeting Zone Championship standards on all three boards.

Flanigan won three individual events over a two-day span at the LSU Quad Meet, a four-team multi-dual format between Conference USA foes Rice, Houston and Tulane and nationally ranked host LSU. During Friday's opening round of action, Flanigan coasted to a win the 1,000-yard freestyle with a season-best and C-USA leading 10:08.01. The distance specialist from Austin, Texas, won the 500-freestyle with a time of 4:56.11 Saturday. She then came back four events later and led a 1-2-3 Rice finish with a win in the 200-butterfly (2:04.89). At the meet she also took seventh among a field of 18 in the 200-freestyle (1:55.12) and competed on one of the Owl relays. The award is the third Swimmer of the Week of the season and of Flanigan’s career.
Conference USA Diver of the Week – Julia Lonnegren, Houston, Sr., Malmö, Sweden
Lonnegren captured the one-meter dive event title for the second week in a row, besting teammate Natasha Burgess. She was the high-point diver of the meet with one first-place and two second-place finishes. Lonnegren scored 48 points or more on all six dives during the one-meter competition, posted a season-best platform score and finished in second place by just 2.4 points in the three-meter event. Each of her scores met the NCAA Zone standard. This is the third consecutive Diver of the Week honor for Lonnegren and the 10th of her career.
