Four C-USA Softball Players Named Academic All-District

IRVING, Texas -- Four Conference USA softball student-athletes have been named to 2012 Capital One Academic All-District teams, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Two players from Marshall are joined by one player from Houston and one from East Carolina in being selected to the first team in their respective divisions.

Marshall catcher Rebecca Gamby and outfield Jessica Hughes both earned a spot on the District 2 First Team.  East Carolina designated player Jill Jelnick was tabbed in District 3 for first team honors and Houston’s Jennifer Klinkert was a District 7 first team choice.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. 

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
