Softball Hosts UCF This Weekend

LAST TIME OUTHouston (14-7, 3-0) enters the series on a four-game winning streak coming off a thrilling 3-1 win over Purdue in the annual Pink Game. Fresh off being named C-USA Hitter of the Week for her performances last week, Holly Anderson helped lift Houston to the win with a two-run single with the bases loaded in the sixth inning to break up the tie. The senior has had two hits in the last five games (8-for-17) and has brought her average up 58 points to .413, second-best in the conference.
The Cougars swept Southern Miss to begin league action last weekend with 7-0, 5-3 and 10-2 (6) wins over the Golden Eagles. Houston now ranks second as a team in batting average (.279) with five Cougars (Holly Anderson, Haley Outon, Katie St. Pierre, Reina Gaber and Kayla Holland) ranking in top 20, the most of any team.
ON THE COMPETITIONUCF (15-12, 0-3) leads the league and are No. 4 in the NCAA with 73 stolen bases this year and will look to challenge the arm of Haley Outon who has thrown out four of seven runners this year. Kahley Novak paces the team with 23 steals and ranks No. 7 in the nation.
Preseason All-Conference selection Mackenzie Audas leads UCF in the pitching circle with a 6-7 record and 3.21 ERA.
The Knights are 1-4 over their last five games with the most recent being a win over Liberty. UCF was swept by to UAB and No 15 Michigan and a win over Liberty.
UCF was picked to finish third in C-USA as Houston and Tulsa counted down the top two spots.
ALL TIME SERIESHouston holds the series edge 13-9. Houston beat UCF in the league tournament last sear after being swept in Orlando the week before. Haley Outon's three-run homer in the third inning gave Houston a lead they wouldn't surrender in the 6-2 win the last time these two teams met.
PROMOTIONSRoger Clemens' autographed memorabilia to the first 50 fans and the seven-time Cy Young Award Winner will throw out the first pitch to start Saturday's double header.
