IRVING, Texas - UTEP junior Camilla Carrera was tabbed Conference USA Hitter of the Week announced league officials on Monday.

Carrera batted .688 (11-for-15) to lead UTEP to a perfect 6-0 record as the Miners improved to 13-3 in 2010.

Six of Carrera's 11 hits were of the extra-base variety, while tallying three multi-hit games and four multi-RBI games. Carrera slugged a team-high 1.188, had an on-base percentage of .700 and was struck out just once in her 16 at bats. She drew three walks from the opposing pitchers.

Carrera smashed a two-run long ball against San Jose State, good for two runs, that started the Miners' scoring rally in the 7-4 victory. Carrera went 4-for-7 (5.41) on the second day of the invite, including two runs and five RBIs with two of her four hits coming in the two-base fashion. Carrera put in a flawless performance on Saturday, going 5-for-5 at the plate that included four runs, three doubles and three RBIs.

This is the second honor for Carrera (March 10, 2008) and the second consecutive week the Miners have garnered the award. Stacie Townsend was honored with the prize a week ago.

The Miners will face the meat of its schedule this weekend, in what is to be the final tune-up before staring league action. UTEP heads to San Diego, Calif. where they will face no. 5 UCLA, no. 19 Fresno State and also San Diego State, Cal Poly and Long Beach State, all of who are receiving votes in the polls.
