TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa senior pitcher Katie Lee was named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week after throwing her second consecutive no-hitter in a 4-0 win over Colorado State, the league office announced Monday.

Lee beat UC Riverside in allowing just one walk in 7.0 innings and she struck out six batters. She retired 11 straight batters to begin the game and 10 straight to end it. Only one ball even got out of the infield during the game - a fly out to center field for the final out of the ballgame. The other 20 outs were a combination of ground outs, infield pop outs and liners, strikeouts, and a pair of bunts.

Lee is now 2-0 on the season with two no-hitters and carries a 1.19 ERA. She previously threw a no-hitter against Prairie View A&M in her last outing - an 8-0 victory in five innings on Feb. 8. In that game, she struck out 11 of 15 batters faced.

"Katie had the ball moving well with pretty good location, and of course the defense behind her played well (in the game Saturday.) It is remarkable to throw two no-hitters in a row," Tulsa Head Coach John Bargfeldt said. "It has only happened once in major league baseball history. It may be more common in softball, but I have seen fewer no-hitters in recent years.

Tulsa swept all four of its games at the UC Riverside aTen Construction Tournament, defeating Colorado State 4-1 and San Diego 6-0 on Friday, UC Riverside 4-0 on Saturday, and Colorado State 6-0 on Sunday. TU is now 7-2 on the season.

The Golden Hurricane will play its first home games of the season next weekend when Tulsa plays host to the Tulsa Select Festival. Tournament play begins at 11 a.m. Friday, while TU's first game is at 5 p.m. Friday against Louisiana-Monroe. Tickets for the 2009 Tulsa Select Festival and the entire Golden Hurricane softball season are now on sale through the TU Athletics Ticket Office and can be obtained by calling (918) 631-GoTU, or by visiting the Tulsa Athletics website at www.TulsaHurricane.com.
