Tulsa junior shortstop Samantha Cobb went 10-for-12 (.833) at the plate with three home runs and seven RBI last weekend, and was named Conference USA Hitter of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Cobb, a native of Garland, Texas, added six runs scored, an .846 on-base percentage and a 1.583 slugging percentage for the No. 24 Golden Hurricane (2-1) and was selected to the all-tournament team at the 26th Annual Louisiana Classics over the weekend. She reached base in her final 10 at-bats of the weekend, going 9-for-9 with five RBI, five runs and two homers during that stretch.
In game one Saturday at No. 23 ULL, Cobb went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and stole a base. In the nightcap Saturday against Mississippi Valley State, she was 4-for-4 with four singles, a walk, two runs scored and an RBI. Sunday against Rutgers, Cobb went 5-for-5 with two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored.
This is third career C-USA Hitter of the Week award.
The Golden Hurricane returns to the field next weekend when it travels to No. 17 Texas A&M for the Aggie Classic Feb. 17-19.
