C-USA Women's Soccer Season Preview
All 12 Teams Open Play on Friday, Aug. 17

Conference USA opens its 18th women's soccer season on Friday, Aug. 17, with all 12 teams in action. Three squads - Marshall, Rice and Tulsa - will also play their home openers. The Owls will be facing intrastate rival Baylor, while MU hosts Ball State and Tulsa welcomes Weber State.

No. 12 UCF will face in-state foe USF as the Knights will travel to Tampa for a 7:30 p.m. ET match. Colorado College opens against Denver in the 2012 Colorado Cup from Greeley, Colo. The Tigers host Colorado on Sunday to conclude Cup action for statewide bragging rights.

Five-time defending C-USA champion Memphis opens its season on the road at Missouri. Match time is 6:30 p.m. CT. The No. 14 Tigers will be without preseason C-USA Offensive Player of the Year Christabel Oduro, as well as teammates Kylie Davis and Natalia Gomez-Junco. The trio is competing in the FIFA U20 World Cup, Oduro and Davis for the Canadian National Team and Gomez-Junco for Mexico.

East Carolina, Houston, SMU, Southern Miss, UAB and UTEP also open their respective seasons on Friday night, but on the road. The Pirates will square off with Campbell at 7 p.m. CT. Southern Miss is at Mercer and Houston will face an intrastate opponent in Stephen F. Austin. SMU and UAB have big trips out west, traveling to California and Oregon, respectively. The Mustangs will play at San Diego State on Friday at 7 p.m. PT. The Blazers face Oregon State on Friday and Oregon on Sunday.
