Sept. 11 Golfers of the Week

IRVING, Texas - UTEP freshman Frederick Dreier and Marshall junior Korakot Simsiriwong have been named the first Conference USA Golfers of the Week for the 2013 season after posting runner-up finishes during the opening week of competition. Dreier shot 7-under par in his collegiate debut at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invite, while Simsiriwong fired a 1-under effort at the Drake Creek Invitational.
C-USA Men's Golfer of the Week - Frederick Dreier, UTEP, Fr., Birkeroed, Denmark
Dreier had an impressive debut for the Miners, carding a 7-under 209 (72-69-68) and tying for second place at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invite in Colorado Springs, Colo. He landed five strokes behind the champion, Air Force's Kyle Westmoreland (67-68-69-204). Dreier's efforts helped the Miners take second place at the tournament (288-287-286--861) behind host Air Force (278-285-286-849). This is the first Golfer of the Week honor for Dreier.
C-USA Women's Golfer of the Week - Korakot Simsiriwong, Marshall, Jr., Narathiwat, Thailand
Simsiriwong was the runner up at the Murray State Drake Creek Invitational, firing a 1-under 215 to help the Herd to a fifth-place finish. She led Marshall's jump from ninth place after the first round, improving her score each round. During the opening round, she shot a 2-over 74, followed by a 1-under 71 and topped her individual finish with a 2-under 70 in the final round. Simsiriwong made 12 birdies during the competition and shared the best par three shooting with a 2.89 average. This is Simsiriwong's second C-USA Golfer of the Week honor (Sept. 26, 2012).
