ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team is back in the postseason. The No. 38 Knights, under the direction of head coach Courtney Trimble, were selected as the No. 13 seed in the East Regional that is set to take place next week on the campus of Penn State on the Blue Course.
This is the first trip into the postseason as a team under Trimble and the 11th berth in school history for the Knights. It comes on the heels of an ultra-successful regular season that saw the Knights win two tournaments for the first time since 2001.
UCF, who finished runner-up at the Conference USA Championship last week in Gulf Breeze, Ala., is one of four teams from the state of Florida to make the tournament. Three regional sites will host tournaments from May 10-12 to determine the championship field. Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each regional.
The NCAA National Championships will be held May 22-25 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn., and will be hosted by Vanderbilt.
This is the second piece of good news on the day for the Knights as Katie Mitchell, Carolin Pinegger and Monifa Sealy all received Conference USA individual honors. Mitchell, this season's C-USA Freshman of the Year, was named to the All-C-USA Second Team with Pinegger while Sealy earned All-C-USA Third Team distinction.
