GULF SHORES, Ala. – No. 33 Tulsa increased its lead to seven strokes during day two of the Conference USA Women’s Golf Championship at the Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club in Gulf Shores, Ala. The Golden Hurricane posted the best round of the tournament with its 291 and are the only team in the field to shoot better than 300 in each round.

Tulsa’s Marita Engzelius is the individual leader and is the only player under par after the opening two rounds. She shot even par, 72, Tuesday to follow her opening round of 71. Teammate Kristina Merkle is tied for sixth place with four others at five-over, 149. All five Golden Hurricane golfers currently are among the top 13 in the individual standings.
No. 32 Tulane sits in second place at 21-over par and has two players in the top 10. Maribel Porras-Lopez is two strokes behind the leader at one-over through two rounds and Ashley McKenney is part of the five-way tie for sixth place.
No. 38 UCF is two strokes behind Tulane at 23-over par after posting a combined five-over for the day. Caroline Pinegger was one-under Tuesday and was the only player to post a score better than par for the day. The Knights have three players in the top six of the standings.
Wednesday’s final round tees off at 7:30 a.m. on holes No. 1 and 10. East Carolina and SMU will begin play at hole No. 1, while Memphis and UTEP will start at hole No. 10. The top three teams will begin play at hole No. 1 at 8:20 a.m.
