WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK (March 2)
MARIBEL LOPEZ PORRAS - Tulane
Sophomore - Bogota, Columbia

Porras helped the 15th-ranked Green Wave solidify a foothold among the nation's top golf teams with a third-place showing at the 2011 Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship, finishing only behind second-ranked and tournament champion USC and top-ranked and tournament runner-up Alabama. Porras, who entered the event ranked No. 56 according to Golfstat.com, fired a pair of 1-under 71s during her first two rounds and added an even-par score during her final round to card a 2-under 214 total, which was good enough for a fifth place finish.  The tournament, which took place at  the English Turn Golf & Country Club, featured 25 of the nation's top-50 individuals with Porras finishing ahead of 22 of them. The sophomore registered 10 birdies and was guilty of only eight bogeys during her 54-hole round.  Her 214 total is a career-low for 54 holes, while her fifth-place finish is her highest finish of the 2010-11 campaign. She now has 10 rounds of par or lower out of a possible 18 rounds during the season. The Green Wave turned in a 5-over 293 total during the final round and concluded the inaugural event with a three-round, 15-over 879 to tie fifth-ranked Duke for third place.  The 2011 field featured 12 of the nation's top-25 teams and Tulane finished ahead of 10 of those squads, including five top-10 teams. Porras earns the first Golfer of the Week honor of her career with the impressive play.

The performance was Eason's third top-10 finish of the season and his second in as many events in the spring. He earns his third Golfer of the Week recognition with the weekend performance.
