IRVING, Texas - Conference USA went 5-3 in Sunday's women's basketball action as league leaders UTEP and Tulane extended their winning streaks. The Miners cruised to an 83-56 victory over UTPA as junior Kayla Thornton (15 points & 14 rebounds) and sophomore Chrishauna Parker (17 points & 12 rebounds) registered double-doubles at the Don Haskins Center Sunday afternoon.

Tulane won its fifth-straight Tulane/DoubleTree Classic with a close 69-63 win over McNeese State in Devlin Fieldhouse. MVP selection Whitney Bibbins led three Green Wave players in double figures with a game-high 25 points.

Rice earned its sixth-consecutive victory as freshman Elena Gumbs hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 26 seconds remaining to cap a 13-point comeback against Lamar, 62-56. Gumbs ended the game with a career-high 15 points, including the last six of the game.

SMU ended the Surf `N Slam Classic at San Diego State with an 88-73 win over Harvard. The 88 point outing by the Mustangs marked a season-high.

UAB had four players with 10-or-more points and forced UNC-Greensboro into 25 turnovers for an 80-62 victory at Bartow Arena. The win marked the third time this season UAB has had four players in double figures, while the Blazers forced 25 or more turnovers in a game for the sixth time in 12 games on the year.

 Tulane 69, McNeese State 63  RS-sophomore F Whitney Bibbins, who posted the team's first double-double of the season with 11 rebounds and 25 points, was named MVP of the 17th Annual Tulane/DoubleTree Classic. She averaged 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds while shooting 68.0 percent from the field (17-of-25) over the weekend. Senior G Olivia Grayson joined Bibbins on the all-tournament team.
 at Rice 62, Lamar 56  Freshman G Elena Gumbs hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 26 seconds remaining to cap a 13-point comeback as the Owls picked up their sixth-straight victory. Junior F Jessica Kuster posted her 35th career double-double with 21 points and 18 rebounds.
 at UAB 80, UNC Greensboro 62  Junior F Ashley Grimes finished with 18 points, while Amber Jones and Karisma Chapman added 14 points each. The Blazers forced 25 UNCG turnovers.
 SMU 88, vs. Harvard 73  Junior F Keena Mays scored 25 points, reaching 20 or more for the fourth time in five games. Senior G Alisha Filmore netted a season-high 22 points, including hitting four 3-pointers in eight attempts. Mays earned all-tournament honors at the Surf `N Slam Classic.
 at UTEP 83, UTPA 56  UTEP won its seventh-straight game behind a pair of double-double performances from junior F Kayla Thornton (15 points & 14 rebounds) and sophomore G Chrishauna Parker (17 points & 12 rebounds).
 at Stephen F. Austin 73, Tulsa 69  Senior G Taleya Mayberry scored a career-high 33 points on 13 of 29 shooting, including a 2-for-5 performance from beyond the arch. Junior F Loren McDaniel and senior F Tiffani Couisnard led the game with 16 and 10 rebounds, respectively.
 at Navy 67, Marshall 51  Junior F Erica Woods and freshman G Norrisha Victrum each scored 11 points. The point total is a season-high for Woods as she hit a career-high three 3-pointers. Woods also topped the team with seven boards.
 at Texas Tech 86, Houston 56  Freshman G Jessieka Palmer posted a team-high 13 points in 23 minutes of action, while freshman G Alecia Smith and junior F Yasmeen Thompson each chipped in nine points.
