Several Conference USA women's basketball teams will hit the hardwood this week before taking a few days off for the Holiday. Seven teams are in action Monday night, including league leader Houston (8-2). The Cougars are wrapping up a three-day tournament at the Duel in the Desert in Las Vegas, Nev. UH is currently 2-0 in tournament play and will face Marist at 6 p.m. The Cougars upset No. 21 Nebraska, 79-70, in the opening game and blew past Louisville, 92-80, on Sunday.

Also in Las Vegas and wrapping up a tournament is SMU (5-5). The Mustangs will face host UNLV in the final game of the Basketball Travelers Classic.
Tulane (7-2) also returns to action and will challenge Louisiana-Monroe in Monroe, La., at 7 p.m. Hosting games tonight are UCF and UTEP. The Knights (4-5) welcome Jacksonville to the UCF Arena, while New Mexico travels to El Paso to face a very tough Miner (6-3) team inside the Don Haskins Center.
Enjoying a pair of pre-holiday tournaments is East Carolina (4-5) and UAB (6-3). The Pirates are in Hilo, Hawaii for the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Classic, while the Blazers will spend four-days in Cancun participating in the Caribbean Classic.
The Green Wave head coach Lisa Stockton is four wins shy of reaching her 400th career victory (396-191) in 20 years. The league sports four coaches with 20-or-more years on the sideline, led by Marshall's Royce Chadwick who's been a head coach for 27 years. Rhonda Rompola (357-224) of SMU and Southern Miss' Joye Lee-McNelis (322-258) joins Stockton with 20 years of head coaching responsibilities.
In the third volume of the Collegiate Basketball News RPI Report, Conference USA has three teams ranked among the Top 100. Tulane appears at No. 38, followed by Houston at No. 53 and Memphis at No. 93.
Soon after the New Year arrives, five teams will be featured in national televised broadcast games. Up first for C-USA will be Tulane hosting SMU on Thursday, Jan. 6 on CBS College Sports. Tip time for that match up is set for 7 p.m. Central. On Sunday, Jan. 9 will showcase a pair of league match ups in Tulane at UAB on ESPN2 and UTEP at Marshall on Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast.
