Dec. 16 Kuster Returns To Lineup For Rice

IRVING, Texas - Sophomore F Jessica Kuster scored a team-high 20 points, while senior F Brianna Hypolite and freshman F Christal Porter poured in 18 apiece to lead Rice to a 73-66 victory over visiting Texas State, Friday night inside Tudor Fieldhouse. Kuster also snared a game-high 10 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season in limited playing time (22 minutes). For Porter, the 18 points scored marked a career-high for the birthday girl. Due to final exams, this was the Owls' first game since the Oregon State game on Dec. 3. Kuster had missed that game and the Dec. 2 contest vs. Texas A&M Corpus Christi since injuring her foot vs. UALR (Nov. 26).

Southern Miss played evenly with Mississippi State for the final 35:18 of the game, but it was the first 4:52 that saw State jump out to a 15-1 lead in a 71-57 win over the Lady Eagles. Junior G Tanecka Carey led the way with a team-high 21 points followed by sophomore G Niesha Pierce 13 and junior C Ance Celmina chipped in 11. Carey was the top rebounder with nine boards and Celmina added eight.
