Women's Basketball Jasmine Goodwine

Rice's women's basketball team announced the signing of a scholar-athlete to a National Letter of Intent on Tuesday. Jasmine Goodwine joins signees Maya Hawkins and Adaeze Obinnah in enrolling in Rice for the 2013-14 season.
"Jasmine is a versatile, athletic forward whom we feel can play both inside and outside," said Rice head coach Greg Williams. "She is an excellent rebounder who will rebound out of her immediate area. Jasmine had an outstanding summer playing against quality competition. She runs the floor well and will fit in with our up-tempo philosophy."
"We think she will be a solid defender with shot-blocking skilles. Jasmine has strong leadership ability, and we think she has great potential as she continues to improve her game at Rice," added Williams.
Jasmine Goodwine is a 6-1 forward from Killeen HS who played club basketball for Sophia Young Elite. She is rated as the No. 41 player in Texas by Joey Simmons' Premier Basketball Report. She was named District 8-4A Offensive Player of the Year in her junior season of 2011-12, averaging 17.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. She was a Texas Association of Basketball Coaches 4A All-Region selection in 2011. She has received all-district honors in each of her three completed seasons at Killeen, including First Team honors as a sophomore and junior. She was coached by Mike Ekanem at Sophia Young Elite and LaTisha Williams at Killeen HS.
The Owls take on Texas State at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday night, and play at UALR on Nov. 24.
