ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Winners of four straight, the UCF women's basketball team hopes to keep the ball rolling at Rice on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.
The Knights (11-14, 5-6) hold the advantage in the overall series, 5-3, and have the opportunity to win their third-straight game over the Owls (10-14, 2-9).
Senior Gevenia Carter returns to her home city as this week's Conference USA Player of the Week. Carter attended Westfield High School about 25 miles north of Rice's campus. She has caught fire with three-straight 20-point outings and is pacing the Knights during conference play with an average of 15.9 points per game.
The Owls have lost eight of their last 10 games, but they have had a second-half lead or tie in each of those contests.
Junior forward and returning All-Conference USA selection Jessica Kuster is the only player in C-USA and one of 38 players nationally to be averaging a double-double. In addition to leading the league in rebounding (10.2 rpg), she is the team's leading scorer with 16.4 points per game, which ranks fifth among league leaders this year.
