After leading UTEP to a share of the Conference USA regular season title, senior forward Gloria Brown was named Player of the Week. She averaged a near double-double with 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds while shooting 47.8 percent from the field and collecting six blocks and steals against Tulsa and Houston. This is Brown's fourth career weekly honor, second of the season. C-USA Freshman of the Week accolades go to Shay Weaver of Marshall. She earns her first weekly honor after leading the Thundering Herd two a pair of C-USA wins over Memphis and UAB. Weaver accounted for 8.0 points per game while shooting 50 percent from the field (5-of-10) and 3-point line (3-of-6).

Brown averaged 14.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 3.0 blocks per game as UTEP clinched a share of the 2011-12 Conference USA regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming tournament. She opened up the week by posting her ninth double-double of the year with 14 points and 12 boards in a 64-54 win at Tulsa. Brown added a trio of blocks and a pair of steals in 20 minutes of action. She then paced a quartet of Miners in double figures in the 71-51 victory at Houston by tallying 14 points, while grabbing six rebounds. Brown also had four steals and three blocked shots in just 16 total minutes of play. The senior has been named C-USA Player of the Week twice this year and four times for her Miner career.

SHAY WEAVER, MARSHALL

Weaver was a key contributor in Marshall's two C-USA wins against Memphis and UAB last week. From the bench, she accounted for 8.0 points per game while shooting 50 percent from the field (5-of-10) and 3-point line (3-of-6). Weaver was the momentum changer in the comeback at UAB Sunday. The freshman hit back-to-back 3-pointers that started a 10-0 Thundering Herd run. That eventually led to Marshall's first lead of the game in the second half. She ended the game with a team-high 11 points and six rebounds. Against Memphis, she scored five points in 11 minutes of action. This is her first career Freshman of the Week honor.
