Tulane has won three-straight and eight of its last 10 games heading into Thursday night's match-up, while the Tigers bounced back from a road loss at Houston by wrapping up a pair of conference series sweeps against Southern Miss and UCF, the two teams from last year's C-USA championship game, last weekend.
The Thursday night game will feature two of the conference's top defenses. Tulane leads the conference in scoring defense, giving up just 61.7 ppg, while Memphis is sixth with 64.1 ppg given up. Much like the league standings, the two teams are tied in the league stats in steals per game (12.1 spg), and rank one (Memphis, +4.7) and two (Tulane +4.5) in turnover margin.
Overall, Thursday will feature 10 C-USA teams, including one CBS College Sports game. Houston (13-11, 7-4 C-USA) is set to travel to Southern Miss (7-17, 3-8 C-USA) for an 8 p.m. CBS C tip. Calling the action will be Ann Schatz and Jason Knapp.
The Cougars may be without 12th-year head coach Joe Curl. Coach Curl was admitted to a Dallas hospital Saturday night with chest and stomach pains. He remains under observation in Dallas. Fourth-year assistant coach Wade Scott has stepped up in Curl's absence.
