Feb. 11 C-USA W-Basketball Players of the Week

IRVING, Texas - Juniors KEENA MAYS and ASHLEY GRIMES have been named Conference USA Women's Basketball Co-Players of the Week. Mays picks up her fourth weekly honor for SMU, while Grimes earns her first career award for UAB.

Mays averaged 23.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game as SMU defeated UAB and Marshall last week to remain the only undefeated team in Conference USA action at 9-0. Grimes averaged 27.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game against SMU and East Carolina last week. She also shot 48.8 percent from the field (21-of-43) and nailed 9-of-12 free throws (.750).

BRIAHANNA JACKSON of UCF picks up her second C-USA Freshman of the Week honor after she led the Knights to a pair of victories over Marshall and Memphis. She averaged 23.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and shot 40.6 percent from the field last week.

CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
KEENA MAYS, SMU
5-7, JUNIOR, GUARD / MANSFIELD, TEXAS / KANSAS

Mays averaged 23.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game as SMU defeated UAB and Marshall last week to remain the only undefeated team in Conference USA action at 9-0. She also hit nine 3-pointers, including a trey with 0.3 seconds left to force double-overtime against UAB. She then nailed the game winner with 1.4 seconds left in the third overtime period to give the Mustangs a 94-92 victory. She scored 29 points and had 13 rebounds for her second double-double of the season and first in C-USA play. Against Marshall, Mays netted 17 points and grabbed five rebounds, while shooting 46.2 percent from the field. This is her fourth C-USA Player of the Week honor and second in a row.

ASHLEY GRIMES, UAB
5-9, JUNIOR, GUARD / SELMA, ALA. / WALLACE CC-SELMA (ALA)

Grimes averaged 27.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game for the Blazers last week. She also shot 48.8 percent from the field (21-of-43), hit four 3-pointers and nailed 9-of-12 free throws (.750). Grimes put together back-to-back career highs in scoring as she recorded 24 points at league-leader SMU Thursday in a triple overtime loss and scored half of the team's points with a career-high 31 Sunday in a 62-58 victory against East Carolina. The Selma, Ala., native scored 16 in the first half and 15 in the final period to lift the Blazers to the win. This is her first career Player of the Week honor.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
BRIAHANNA JACKSON, UCF
5-4, GUARD / TAMPA, FLA. / IMG ACADEMY

Jackson averaged 23.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and shot 40.6 percent from the field as UCF defeated Marshall and Memphis last week. She put up a team-high 18 points and swiped seven steals in the win over the Herd. She helped lead UCF to its first sweep of Memphis since 2009 with a game-high 29 points for the sixth 20-point game of her young career. She added a career-high matching 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the year and again recorded seven steals. Jackson netted 12 free throws in the game, the most by a Knight this season, to help UCF break the 21-year-old school record for free throws made in a game (33). This is her second Freshman of the Week honor.
