C-USA TENNIS WEEKLY AWARDS
MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
YANNICK JUNGER, UTSA
Junior/Stuttgart, Germany
Junger posted a perfect ledger in both singles and doubles completion to help UTSA to a 2-1 record last week. The junior won all three singles matches at the No. 1 spot, beginning with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory against Ilija Cuic of No. 63 Wichita State in the Roadrunners’ only setback of the week. The Stuttgart, Germany, native outlasted Juan Cruz Soria of Texas-Pan American, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5), to lead UTSA to a 6-1 win, and he swept Michael Maciel of NCAA Division II No. 29 St. Mary’s, 6-1, 6-1, to help the Birds to a 7-0 shutout of their crosstown foes. In doubles, Junger teamed with Boburjon Kamiljanov for three victories at the No. 2 position, including an 8-4 decision against Wichita State’s Cuic and Jocelyn Devilliers. This is his first C-USA Tennis Athlete of the Week honor.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
MACY VONDERSCHMIDT, CHARLOTTE
Freshman/McKinney, Texas
Vonderschmidt extended her career-long singles winning streak to six this week, earning a pair of victories for the 49ers at the No. 4 position. Her six-straight match triumphs mark the longest run for any Charlotte individual this year and give her a team-high seven during the dual match campaign. Both of her wins this week were in straight sets and her triumph Saturday over her opponent from Western Carolina helped guide the Niners to the overall team victory, their fourth straight at home. She has made a seemless transition up the lineup, moving to the No. 4 spot after starting the spring at No. 5, and tallying a 3-1 mark at her new position. She was also one-half of the No. 2 doubles pairing, earning a decisive tiebreaker win Saturday that gave the 49ers the point and proved to be the difference in the team’s win against the in-state opponent. This is Vonderschmidt’s first career Athlete of the Week award.
