IRVING, Texas - East Carolina sophomore JORAN VLIEGEN and senior ANASTASIA EROFEEVA of Tulsa have been named this week's Conference USA Tennis Athletes of the Week. Vliegen posted a 2-0 singles and doubles record at the No. 1 position last week. He has won nine straight singles matches dating back to Jan. 30. This is his first Athlete of the Week honor this season and second of his career.

Erofeeva recorded two wins over ranked foes last weekend. She currently has 101 career singles victories and 199 combined wins. She is ranked No. 82 in the country in singles. This is her second Athlete of the Week honor this season and of her career.

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
JORAN VLIEGEN, EAST CAROLINA
Sophomore / Maaselk, Belgium

Vliegen posted a 2-0 singles and doubles record at the No. 1 position. He incresased his win streak to nine matches dating back to Jan. 30. He picked up straight-set victories over David Orces of The Citadel, 6-4, 6-2, and Charlotte's Jack Williams, 7-6, 6-1. In doubles play, he teammed with Niels Cleeren to defeat Orces and Peter Bleach of The Citadel, 8-4, and Charlotte's Alex Calott and Williams, 8-5. This is his first Athlete of the Week honor this season and second of his career.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
ANASTASIA EROFEEVA, TULSA
Senior / Moscow, Russia

Erofeeva recorded two wins over ranked foes last weekend. In singles play, she topped No. 110 Sonja Molnar of Iowa, 6-4, 6-1, to help lead Tulsa to a 7-0 victory over the No. 58 Hawkeyes. The win was the second over a ranked opponent this spring. In doubles play, Erofeeva and fellow senior Ewa Szatkowska defeated Molnar and Shelby Talcott, 8-3. The following day, the TU duo topped the No. 23 team from Nebraska of Madeleine Geibert and Stefanie Weinstein, 8-5. The victory was the first over a ranked doubles team in Erofeeva's career. She already holds the Tulsa record for career doubles victories with 98, and last week she became the third player in school history with 100 career singles wins. She currently has 101 career singles victories and 199 combined wins. She is ranked No. 82 in the country in singles. This is her second Athlete of the Week honor this season and of her career.
