Men's Tennis To Face No. 40 Vanderbilt
Feb. 13, 2013
Memphis, Tenn - After back-to-back wins, the men's tennis team looks for its third straight win as they travel to Nashville to face the No. 40 Vanderbilt Commodores on Friday, February 15, at 2 pm.
Memphis and Vanderbilt will square off for the 20th time in the history of the two schools on Friday. Vanderbilt leads the all-time series 14-5, and had won 12 straight in the series before the Tigers won last year's match 4-3 in Nashville. The Commodores come in to the match off a 4-3 loss to Harvard that ended a four match win streak and dropped their overall record to 5-3.
Three nationally-ranked singles players will be on display in the match between the Tigers and the Commodores. Joe Salisbury, of Memphis, is currently ranked 73rd in the ITA rankings, while Vanderbilt's Ryan Lipman and Gonzales Austin are ranked 22nd and 33rd respectively. Salisbury will once again look for career singles win number 50 as he played in both matches last Friday but was unable to finish play in either match.
