The University of Tulsa men's tennis team travels to Columbus, Ohio, this weekend to take part in the 2010 ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The 35th-ranked Golden Hurricane faces No. 30 Notre Dame in the first round on Saturday at Noon CST.
The ITA Kick-Off Weekend takes place at 15 campus sites around the country and serves as the qualifying rounds of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The tournament features the top 60 teams in the nation with the winner of each site advancing to finals on February 12-15 at The University of Virginia.
The Columbus, Ohio, site includes host No. 3 Ohio State, No. 30 Notre Dame, No. 35 Tulsa and No. 51 New Mexico. Ohio State and New Mexico face off in the other first round match on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. CST.
Tulsa and Notre Dame also played each other in the first round of last year's qualifying, with the Hurricane winning, 4-2, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Tulsa defeated LSU, 4-2, in the second round to advance to ITA National Team Indoors for the first time since 2004.
