Omaha, Nebraska - The fifth-ranked Tulsa men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to second-ranked and seventh-seeded Creighton on Tuesday night at the Morrison Stadium in Omaha, Neb. The Golden Hurricane concluded the season with a 16-4-3 mark, the most wins in school history, while the Bluejays moved to 15-1-2.

"I am very proud of my guys," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "We controlled play for most of the game, but we made two early mistakes and Creighton capitalized on them. Our guys kept fighting and creating chances, but we just couldn't finish."

With just 36 seconds ticked off the clock, Creighton's Andrei Gotsmanov scored his 10th goal of the season as Tyrel Lacey went to punch the ball out of the box. The ball took a bad bounce and Gotsmanov punched it in from about nine yards out. In the 35th minute, Seth Sinovic gave the Jays a two-goal cushion off a cross from Jeff Thayer.

Tulsa, however, dominated possession, taking eight shots, three of which were on goal, to CU's four shots in the first half.

In the second half, Austin Neil netted his 11th goal this year as he headed in a pass from Jeovahnni Sandez from seven yards out with just 4:49 left to play. Tulsa would have two more solid chances to even the score, but just couldn't put it away.

The Golden Hurricane out-shot the Jays, 13-7, but CU had a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal. Lacey logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up four saves in the contest.

Today's loss snapped a 16-game unbeaten streak and a 16-game road winning streak for the Golden Hurricane.
