IRVING, Texas – Memphis striker Mark Sherrod has been named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week after he scored three goals and propelled the Tigers to a pair of league wins last week. Sherrod scored once against UAB and netted both Memphis goals against No. 14 SMU. UCF goalkeeper Sebastian Evers posted two clean sheets, including the Knights’ win against Marshall to clinch a spot in the C-USA Championship field and has been named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week. The C-USA Championship will be played Nov. 7-11 at Regions Park in Hoover, Ala.

C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – Mark Sherrod, Memphis, Jr., F, Knoxville, Tenn.

Sherrod tallied three goals in two games to close out the final week of the regular season. Wednesday, Sherrod notched his 10th goal of the season helping to put away conference foe UAB, 3-1. Friday, Sherrod scored both of Memphis’ goals during its 2-1 win over No. 14 SMU. Sherrod tied the game in the 40th-minute with a header and then booted the game winner 72nd-minute via penalty kick to secure the Tigers’ win and berth in the Conference USA Men’s Soccer Championship. For the season, Sherrod has 12 goals and 28 points, both tied for second in C-USA. This is Sherrod’s first Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season and third for his career.

C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – Sebastian Evers, UCF, So., GK, Miami, Fla.

Evers posted a pair of shutouts on the road as UCF defeated Kentucky and Marshall to earn a spot in the Conference USA Championship. He tallied 13 saves in the pair of victories. Evers had an incredible performance in the 1-0 win at Kentucky. He stopped nine shots, including six in the second half when the Wildcats peppered the Knights with 14 total shots. With a spot in the league championship on the line at Marshall, Evers had four saves in a 1-0 UCF triumph. The Miami native has six shutouts on the year and recorded four against C-USA opponents. The award is the first for Evers’ career.

2012 C-USA Offensive Players of the Week
