IRVING, Texas – Kentucky senior midfielder Brad Doliner has been named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals, including the golden goal in the 98th minute, at Old Dominion to give the Wildcats their first league win of the season. Charlotte senior goalkeeper Klay Davis is the Defensive Player of the Week after leading the 49ers to draws against No. 20 Wake Forest and New Mexico.
C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – Brad Doliner, Kentucky, Sr., MF, Cape Elizabeth, Maine
Doliner had the best game of his career in leading Kentucky to a thrilling 2-1 overtime win at Old Dominion. The senior recorded his first career two-goal game, including netting the golden goal in the 98th minute to seal the win after a go-ahead score early in the second half. Doliner’s first goal of the match came via penalty kick in the 52nd minute, his second consecutive game with a PK goal. Following an ODU equalizer in the 77th minute, Doliner struck for the golden goal in the 98th frame, a laser from the edge of the 18-yard box. He now has four goals and one assist – his first career goals – with two game winners, 19 shots and 10 shots on goal for the season. The native of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, ranks among the C-USA leaders in conference games only in points (6, 2nd), goals (3, 1st), goals per game (1.50, 1st), shots (8, T2nd) shots per game (4, T1st) and game-winning goals (1, T1st. Doliner has played throughout the lineup for UK as a versatile weapon, seeing starts at center back, outside back, outside midfield, holding midfield and forward. This is his first C-USA Player of the Week award.
C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – Klay Davis, Charlotte, Sr., GK, Jacksonville, N.C.
Davis allowed only one goal in 220 minutes of action last week against No. 20 Wake Forest and at New Mexico. He allowed one goal and recorded seven saves in the 49ers’ 1-1 double overtime tied against No. 20 Wake Forest. Then, he made two saves as he recorded his fifth shutout of the season and the 25th of his career in the 49ers 0-0 double overtime tie at New Mexico. This is Davis’ second Defensive Player of the Week honor this season and for his career.
