IRVING, Texas – SMU junior goalkeeper Jaime Ibarra made 17 saves, including 10 on the road against No. 23 UAB and has been named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week. Tulsa’s Kyle Cumings is the C-USA Offensive Player of the Week after he assisted on a goal against No. 12 Creighton and netted the game-winner against previously unbeaten Marshall.

C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – Kyle Cumings, Tulsa, Jr., F, Des Moines, Iowa

Cumings put a pair of shots on goal, and scored the game-winning goal against Marshall, while recording an assist against No. 12 Creighton last week. Cumings’ goal came in the 17th minute against the Thundering Herd as he led Tulsa to its fourth-straight win and gave the Golden Hurricane a 2-0 mark in Conference USA. Cumings has two goals and three assists for seven points on the year. This is Cumings’ first Offensive Player of the Week award of his career.

C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – Jaime Ibarra, SMU, Jr., GK, Dallas, Texas

Ibarra had another strong performance in net for the Mustangs, saving 17 shots and helping the team to a 2-0 mark to open Conference USA action. Monday, SMU defeated South Carolina, 2-1, at Westcott Field, as Ibarra made seven saves on the night for the Mustangs. Saturday, SMU shut out No. 23 UAB on the road. Ibarra recorded 10 stops en route to his third shutout of the season. The junior has allowed only two goals in the past five games, stopping two penalty kicks in that span. The award is the third of Ibarra’s career and second of the season.
