UCF's Doyle, UAB's Navarrete Claim Honors

UCF goalkeeper Shawn Doyle has been named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Knights to two wins and pushing their record to 5-0-0 for the season. Doyle picked up his second clean sheet in the win against North Florida. UCF is one of six teams nationally to hold at least five wins without a loss or tie. UAB forward Diego Navarrete posted three goals and an assist last week as UAB remained one of three C-USA unbeaten teams with a 6-1 victory over Oral Roberts and a one-all draw against Georgia State. Navarrete's three goals came from five shots on goal and his penalty conversion against Georgia State was the lone tally for the Blazers.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Navarrete played a a big role in leading UAB to a 1-0-1 record on the week, helping keep the Blazers undefeated on the year (3-0-2). The Santiago, Chile native scored a pair of goals and an assist in UAB's 6-1 victory over Oral Roberts on Friday. He also recorded five shots, three of which came on frame. Navarrete also scored the lone goal in the 1-1 draw vs. Georgia State on Sunday, converting a penalty kick in the 14th minute. He was a constant threat up top, collecting five shots on the night. For the week, Navarrete recorded three goals, one assist, 10 shots and five shots on goal. This is his first C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honor.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Shawn Doyle, UCF, Junior, GK, Fort Myers, Fla.

Doyle helped keep UCF among the nation's unblemished teams, posting a shutout and a 0.56 goals against average for the week. He logged 161 minutes in UCF's two victories and allowed just one goal while making four saves. He played all 90 minutes in a 3-0 win over North Florida and stopped three shots. The junior had a save and allowed just one goal in 71:33 minutes of action in his team's 5-2 win at Mercer. On the year, Doyle has 15 saves and only three goals allowed. The C-USA Defensive Player of the Week award is the second in Doyle's career and first of the season.
