IRVING, Texas – FIU and Marshall remained unbeaten for the season, claiming wins at Wisconsin and against Liberty, respectively, Friday during Conference USA men’s soccer action. Marshall has yet to concede a goal this season through four matches. SMU and Kentucky earned their first wins of the season by topping Dartmouth and Saint Joseph’s, respectively.

Friday, September 7           

FIU 3, at Wisconsin  1

FIU (4-0-0) defeated the Wisconsin Badgers (1-2-1) by a score of 3-1 Friday night. FIU saw goals from Gonzalo Frechilla (1st of the season), Quentin Albrecht (5th of the season) and Daniel Gonzalez (1st of the season). Frechilla also assisted on two goals while Albrecht and Lyle Lindquist each had an assist. Robin Spiegel had three saves between the posts in the victory.

Marshall 2, Liberty 0 (Jay Sculley Memorial Tourn. - Lexington, Va.)

The Thundering Herd remained undefeated on the season (3-0-1) with a 2-0 win over Liberty University (1-2) in the opening game of the Jay Sculley Memorial Tournament at VMI’s Patchin Field Friday afternoon. Senior forward Eddy Prugh netted his second goal of the campaign just four minutes into the match after being supplied with a cross from junior midfielder Anthony Virgara. The Herd then doubled its lead in the 21st minute when Virgara scored his first goal of the season.

at Kentucky 2, Saint Joseph’s 0 (UK Invitational - Lexington, Ky.)

Behind goals from freshman Bryan Celis and senior Charley Pettys and a clean sheet from freshman goalkeeper Callum Irving, Kentucky posted a resounding 2-0 win over St. Joseph's in the home debut of first-year head coach Johan Cedergren, on a steamy Friday night at the UK Soccer Complex. 

SMU 2, at Dartmouth 1

SMU picked up its first win of the season with a 2-1 defeat of Dartmouth on Friday night. Sophomores Andrew Morales and Tyler Engel scored for the Mustangs. With the win, SMU moves to 1-2-1 on the season.
