IRVING, Texas – Senior forward Paulo da Silva of No. 7 SMU and sophomore goalkeepers Carl Woszczynski of UAB and Sean Johnson of UCF are this week’s Conference USA Men’s Soccer Players of the Week, respectively. da Silva was named to the all-tournament team in the Cal Legacy Classic in Berkeley, Calif., after scoring a goal in each of the Mustangs' matches over the weekend, a 2-0 win over perennial power Stanford, and a 1-1 tie at No. 8 Cal. Woszczynski was making just his third career start and recorded his first career shutout in a 1-0 win over Mercer on Sunday, while Johnson also notched a 1-0 win over Stetson on Sunday, stopping 18 shots and notching six saves.

da Silva was named to the all-tournament team in the Cal Legacy Classic in Berkeley, Calif. The senior forward scored a goal in each of the Mustangs' two matches over the weekend, a 2-0 win over perennial power Stanford, and a 1-1 tie at No. 8 Cal. The No. 7 Mustangs improved to 3-0-1 on the season, and da Silva is the team's leading scorer with eight points on three goals and two assists. The weekly honor is the first of da Silva’s career.

Making just the third start in his career and second start this season, Woszczynski recorded his first career shutout in a 1-0 overtime victory over Mercer on Sunday. Woszczynski was spectacular in the net, making four saves en route to the victory. In the opening minutes of overtime, the sophomore goalkeeper faced a one-on-one with a Mercer player and made a fingertip save to keep the game scoreless. On the season, Woszczynski has a 0.97 goals allowed average in two contests, and has made six saves. This is Woszczynski’s first career weekly C-USA honor.

SEAN JOHNSON - UCF

Johnson continued his early season strong play with a 1-0 shutout win over Stetson on Sunday. He faced 18 shots and tallied six saves to post his third career shutout and help UCF to their first win in 2008. In three games this season, Johnson has 22 saves which is currently top on C-USA. He also leads the league in saves per game at 7.33. The weekly honor is the first of Johnson’s career.
