Four Conference USA players have been selected during the 2012 Major League Soccer Supplemental draft conducted Tuesday in New York. Goalkeeper Carl Woszczynski of UAB, SMU teammates Arthur Ivo and Ian Kallis and Tulsa's Justin Chavez were taken in the four-round draft. The quartet joins MLS SuperDraft choices Diogo de Almeida of SMU, Kevan George and Warren Creavalle of UCF and Babayele Sodade of UAB as MLS-drafted players from C-USA.
Four Conference USA Men's Soccer players were selected in the 2012 Major League Soccer Super Draft Thursday in Kansas City, Mo. Diogo de Almeida of SMU, Kevan George and Warren Creavalle of UCF and Babayele Sodade of UAB were selected in the second round. C-USA players have been selected in every MLS draft since the league began its draft in 1996.
SMU defender Diogo de Almeida has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Scholar-Athlete All-America first team, as announced by the organization. de Almeida was joined on the All-America team by UAB goalkeeper Carl Wosczcynski, who earned third-team honors. Additionally, Memphis' Parker Duncan was selected as a Scholar All-South Region first team member and SMU's Adam Still was named honorable mention all-region.
Memphis forward Mark Sherrod has been named a 2011 NSCAA All-America Third Team selection as announced Friday by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. In addition, 19 C-USA men's soccer players have been tabbed to the NSCAA All-Region teams, including four first team players and 14 second team selections.
