Miller and Men's Golf Recognized for Outstanding Academics
Marshall is just one of two C-USA teams honored by the GCAA

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Former Marshall golfer Bosten Miller plus the entire 2011-12 men’s golf team were recently honored for their achievements in the classroom.

Miller, who wrapped up his Thundering Herd career this past season, was named a Cleveland Golf/Srizon All-America Scholar by the GCAA. Miller was one of 146 players in Division I to earn such an honor.

The Charleston, W.Va. native earned All-America Scholar status after having a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. Additional qualifications to be honored include participating in 70-percent of his team’s competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships and have a stroke-average under 76.0. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

The Thundering Herd golf team as a whole recognized as an All-Academic team by the GCAA for have a team GPA of 3.0 or better. Marshall was one of just two Conference USA teams to make an appearance on the All-Academic list. East Carolina was the other conference representative.

The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) was established in 1958 and is located in Norman, OK. The GCAA is a non-profit organization and is the professional association of men’s collegiate golf coaches. Through its established events and programs, the GCAA maintains a goal of increasing awareness and the status of men’s golf. There are over 750 members in the GCAA representing all three NCAA divisions as well as NAIA and NJCAA.
