Three C-USA Golfers Named All-American

IRVING, Texas – UCF teammates Greg Eason and Ricardo Gouveia and SMU’s Matt Schovee have been named Honorable Mention PING All-Americans by the Golf Coaches Association of America. A total of 62 golfers were named to the first, second, third and honorable mention teams as announced by the organization Wednesday.

Eason tied for 13th at the NCAA Championship at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. He concluded the event, which included 156 golfers, at 2-over 215. Eason took medalist honors at the Conference USA Championship in Texarkana, Ark., with a 208 (-8). Eason also earned a spot on the All-C-USA Second Team.

The C-USA Newcomer of the Year, Gouveia participated in all 12 events this past season. He posted a team-low 71.5 stroke average and had 20 rounds of par or better. Gouveia recorded five-top 10 performances. At the NCAA Championship, Gouveia tied for 37th. He helped the Knights advance to the championship with a strong showing at the NCAA Regionals, tying for 18th at the tournament in Stanford, Calif.

Schovee finished his Mustang career by tying for first place at the 2012 NCAA East Regional, carding a 213, 3-under par at the Grandover Resort’s East Course in Greensboro, N.C. A career-low 67 in the first round paved the way for the top result of his career.
